A summary of the 1st VenusPARIS
in the "Le Bourget" Exhibition Centre
Facts and figures
Berlin, 11.05.2006
Three days of an erotic premiere are over the 1st VenusPARIS in the "Le Bourget" Exhibition Centre from 28th - 30th April 2006 in Paris has definitely passed its début with flying colours.
- 153 exhibitors presented their products and services in an exhibition area spanning 12,500 m².
- 1173 trade visitors meant far more than we anticipated and therefore rewarded exhibitors with good business deals, too.
- 4750 consumers fell far short of our expectations. However, these visitors stayed longer than average in the exhibition hall obtaining detailed information on the ranges on offer as well as experiencing a few erotic hours with their favourite stars.
- 170 representatives of the press received accreditation enabling them to obtain information and report on the 1st VenusPARIS.
We can however be particularly pleased by one highlight: the fact that we succeeded in attracting the attention of new trade dealers in terms of the Venus and getting them to the actual Exhibition. With the result that exhibitors and trade dealers were once again able to avail of the opportunity to develop new business relationships. This is in turn proof of the fact that not all trade dealers are familiar names and that we can target them together via a platform as offered by the Venus.
We were however less successful in achieving our target figures in terms of consumers visiting the Exhibition. Unfortunately, the much hoped-for crowds failed to meet our expectations. This was however attributable to several factors: first of all, our end consumer advertising was too soft. In this case, we were not advised appropriately. Opinions differ as to whether an exhibition should be held on a weekend followed by a national holiday. The fact here is that it was not right for Paris. Secondly, the final between Paris-SG and Marseille took place on Saturday evening but this date had not yet been finalised when we organised the halls. Another point of interest is that consumers are not obviously interested in visiting another erotic fair only six weeks after already visiting one. And last but not least, Frances largest consumer fair was also in the "Porte de Versailles" Exhibition Centre at the same time. We did not avail of all of this information in advance and it was all definitely too much for the Parisians wallets.
But Rome wasnt built in a day and this means that we will be changing a few things for the 2nd VenusPARIS. As was our intention for the 1st VenusPARIS, we would like to secure the "Porte de Versaille" Exhibition Centre for the 2nd VenusPARIS. We will know soon whether our efforts for the next VenusPARIS have been successful this time around. Like in Berlin, however, we will manage the entire end consumer advertising ourselves this time and in doing so rely on our past experience.
Whats more, we will also choose a different weekend for the 2nd Venus PARIS in order to avoid being surprised by so many parallel events in Paris.
We will also start looking around for a new partner hotel as agreements with the Le Meridien were not observed and the service left much to be desired. The problem regarding the shuttle service and taxis at the Exhibition Centre will also be dealt with and a satisfactory solution found.
All in all, we can be satisfied and wish to take this opportunity to thank the exhibitors and trade dealers for their confidence in the 1st VenusPARIS. We take all criticism very seriously and will do everything we can to remedy the problems in time for the 2nd VenusPARIS. Organisation in general and that for which we were responsible was found to be positive and professional by almost everyone. Likewise, most exhibitors were pleased to acquire new business partners on the French-speaking market and to have the possibility to conduct good customer meetings in the pleasant atmosphere which prevailed. At this stage, we can say that some exhibitors will be confirming their bookings for the next Venus in Paris.
We continue to regard the Venus in Paris as a "gateway" to the French-speaking region and have set ourselves some challenging goals for the future. And we wish to reach these goals by pinpointing and eliminating the mistakes we made this time. We will continue to develop the VENUS name in international B2B business and reinforce it as a guarantee for a platform for business relationships. Using more international stars, a better advertising strategy and the power associated with that, we also wish to expand swiftly in the consumer area and thereby transform the VenusPARIS for exhibitors, trade visitors, end consumers and the press into what it already is in Berlin: namely, one of the most important exhibitions for our sector.

Medien-eLine Award
and VIP Party
And the Winner is...
Berlin, 11.05.2006
Two major events took place on Friday evening: for the first time, the Medien-eLine sector magazine presented its hotly-contested award in Paris within the pleasant surroundings of the "Le Meridien" Hotel and the evening turned out to be extremely exciting. The presenters did a great job during the course of the evening and the event was interspersed with three erotic dance routines for entertainment.
After about two hours, the team of presenters invited the guests to join the VIP Party at "Mandala Ray" a lavish party with VMD (Video Marc Dorcel) and the Venus. A shuttle bus transferred the guests to the exclusive location. Paris did justice to our sector and the 350 guests celebrated a party which went on until the early hours of the morning.
