His vision of the fetish trend, or: how to translate one’s passion into fashion
“I am delighted to no end at how much fetishist fashion is influencing fashion in general. People are living out their fantasies and enjoy communicating with their bodies. No more hypocrisy at last!! Fetishism is increasingly turning into a mainstream phenomenon.
It has finally come out of its traditional straitjacket (pun intended) and is now celebrated for what it really is: the expression of true cultural refinement and sophistication, something which has never been out of style. This realisation has inspired us to dig even deeper into the wells of our creativity and to be ever more daring in our choice of materials, yet without ever compromising on cut, comfort and fit.
Obviously I’ve had to live through some very different times, when I was swimming against the tide in order to express my vision of women. And I can truly say of myself that I’ve always been more of an avant-garde pioneer than an opportunist and hanger-on, as opposed to the majority of fashion designers who content themselves with jumping on the bandwagon of whatever fashion phenomenon is currently en vogue.
In the meantime it seems to me that I’ve pretty much become a mainstream phenomenon, one of the many riding on that fetishism surf which has become part of the contemporary Parisian lifestyle.”
